PERMISSION.

CHARACTER NAME: Daryl Dixon (the one on the right)
CHARACTER SERIES: The Walking Dead (AMC)
Spoilers for specific details of s9 onward look like this.
QUICK RUNDOWN:
Daryl Dixon is from a zombie apocalypse show. They don't call them 'zombies' though. Daryl is from Georgia, and would be considered 'white trash' by some, including occasionally himself. He has a lifetime's experience hunting and tracking stretching from before the zombie apocalypse, and is generally more comfortable in nature than in civilization. He has a closed off personality, keeping people at arm's length... but he's incredibly weak to children, girls, and people who need his help. Big fan of motorcycles, tattoos, and not dying.IN GENERAL:
I'm open to anything, I love CR where characters slowly learn to trust each other in fraught environments. I love and crave crosscanon. I'm fine with AUing Daryl into anything but the modern day, domestic, or Hogwarts AUs.PHYSICAL INFORMATION:
While he can be chilly at first, he generally wants to trust and be trusted, and will work toward protecting others, even if he's bitchy about it. Tends to get his feelings hurt easily, most often by himself. He's vulnerable to sad women and girls, as well as people with missing / dead children or siblings.
Daryl is outdoorsy to a serious extent, and doesn't care much about his physical presentation. He frequently smells like sweat and dirt, has dirty fingernails, unwashed hair, holes in his clothes, etc. Sometimes holes in his clothes will be patched, but quite obviously so, with non-matching fabrics or even animal skins. Fond of leather jackets or sleeveless shirts, sometimes layered over each other. He has a tendency toward black in general, and nearly all his shirts are button-downs. He always ties twine or shoelaces around his ankles.AUs:
He is 5'10" and has a southern accent, specifically from Appalachian Georgia, if your character would notice that.
Here are some examples of his looks. He is almost always wearing a sleeveless motorcycle vest, this is what the back of it looks like.
Here's Daryl being, uh, himself, if you want to know what his voice sounds like. In general: low and grunt-y normally, though when he's angry it gets weirdly high pitched.
I'll AU Daryl into any setting but the modern day / domestic (like coffee shop etc), or Harry Potter.SHIPPING PREFS:
In general, Daryl in almost any AU is someone living on the fringes of society, making his way by living off the land as some kind of hunter / tracker. He's especially easy to AU into other post-apoc canons since he's from one himself: he's a hunter who provides meat to the community but doesn't engage much in the social sphere... except with your character, who he's taken a liking to for some reason.
- Dead by Daylight.
I play Daryl as either het or a bi person who has never realized he's bi bc he doesn't know what bisexuality really is. i have no preference m/f or f/f, tho Daryl personally leans slightly toward women just because it's easier and lbr, shipping with Daryl is hard. It necessitates slow burn buildup, and getting around a lot of awkwardness. Daryl is not suave, he has no game, and responds poorly to open flirting. The other character may have to make a great deal of the effort to get there. This is why shipping w/ him without OOC communication is almost impossible; please PLEASE contact me if you want to do a ship.GENERAL PREFERENCES:
Character must be at least 30+ to ride this ride. Cross canon is fine and frequently preferred.
Pls no Carols, Beths or Leahs. Deeply into Connie w/ buildup.
Can only picture Daryl with Michonne or Rick if they're in some kind of throuple. (That said, I can't not see Daryl as at least half in love with Rick post-Alexandria, he just doesn't realize it because he doesn't know what bisexuality is.)
Other TWD characters: I'm listening.
Backtagging: Please.
Threadhopping: Please!
Fourthwalling: Please no.
Formatting: I prefer prose by a wide margin, but will try to match to brackets if that's your preference. I say 'try' not because it personally bothers me to write in brackets, but because I have a tendency to forget and just write the whole comment in prose. That isn't me being passive aggressive with something as silly as formatting, I swear; I'm just forgetful. If I do that to you, feel free to just switch back to brackets if you wish.
Canon Point: I don't tend to play Daryl from earlier than S5, and can play him as far out as S10.
In memes, unless it's for the purposes of something we've already plotted out OOC, I probably won't decide the canon point before tagging, just to feel out what would be most interesting for the thread.
My favorite canon points are on the road post-prison (pre or post Grady), pre-Savior war Alexandria, and post-Whispers just-came-out-of-the-woods chic. That said, I'm open to anything between S5 and S10 (sometimes well into s11a, but spoilers: please don't make me deal with the Commonwealth and Daryl becoming a Stormtrooper).
If you're canon unfamiliar, the earlier you go back in canon, the more volatile and unpredictable Daryl's temper is, and he's less likely to be kind to strangers. Later canon reverses that; he's kinder, and has a better handle on his temper, but he also has a growing sense of wanderlust and is unable to settle down anymore.
Affection: Go for it. Depending on how it's done, Daryl may flinch away or spook, but I'm into playing with that awkwardness.
Violence: Love it! Daryl will hit back.
Telepathy / Magic: Ask first, but I'm generally fine with it.
Unwanted Scenarios: Deeply not into holocaust-esque stuff, pregnancy horror, or eating / being eaten by / transforming into bugs. Also please do not show me pictures of bugs.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): Daryl has endured violent domestic abuse, and grew up in a highly racist, sexist environment. While he rarely acts in such a fashion any longer or references his past abuse, it may come up.
Note that Daryl is also a hunter. While he will never torture or mutilate animals for the hell of it, they will come to harm in his hands. He generally tries to kill them quickly, but we can't always have what we aim for.
In later seasons, Daryl has also experienced torture, up to and including sleep deprivation, starvation, music torture, humiliation, depersonalization , branding, and waterboarding.
If you'd like to opt out of either of the above potential subjects, or the character entirely, please let me know in the comments of this post, or DM me, or whatever floats your boat!
DEAD BY DAYLIGHT AU.
This would make him really successful at surviving trials if he didn't keep sacrificing himself, often pointlessly so. He will aggressively body block killers, try to save anyone on the hook, and generally put himself at risk. This is especially true if he's in trials with younger survivors, but he's prone to this in general. Feel free to assume your character has seen him doing this shit multiple times in increasingly stupid / desperate ways. He will continue to do it even if people tell him not to. It's more compulsive than noble.
As a hunter, Daryl does judge the prowess of killers, though he kind of hates himself for doing this. In his mind, a hunter should be quick and efficient, which gives him a special loathing for killers who 'play with their food', are flashy or just sloppy. Ghostfaces, Legions, Tricksters, and others in this vein tend to catch his special ire, because they cause more pain than necessary, but also out of the 'professional' opinion that they're not even good at their jobs. It's all very petty.
If you're okay with going outside the realm of what is mechanically possible in the game, feel free to assume Daryl will physically attack killers with what limited tools he has. He will bonk people with flashlights, or just use his fists where possible. If he's pissed off enough, if the killer has hurt enough young people, if he's just in a pissy mood, he may find himself motivated to hunt the killer back, tracking and stalking them, setting traps where possible, ambushing from trees, whatever. He doesn't expect to survive when he does this; he's just angry and needs an outlet. Whenever he does this shit, it generally ends in his death within that trial.
Whenever he's hooked, he will always try to wiggle, less to save himself and more to make sure nobody tries to save him.

Player Name: pel
Player Pronouns: he / him
Preferred Contact:
Backtagging: go for it, but if it's been ~3 weeks since I got a tagback, I'm probably gonna drop. Nothing personal, I just can't keep shit in my head that long.
Canon Puncture: no thanks. Feel free to have characters realize the thing he's describing as 'walkers' are just zombies, though it's a term he's never heard.
Threadjacking: go for it.
Off-Limit Topics: I have a morbid phobia of bugs. While I am for the most part okay day-to-day, if we're going to involve transformation into or ingestion of bugs, like, warn me.
IC INFO
Flirting: This is a great way to make Daryl leave immediately, but I'm not saying you can't.
Fighting: I'm always down. Daryl is a pretty brutal fighter, but everybody fucks up sometimes. If things are likely to end in mutilation or death, LMK (or I'll let you know).
Debate: Always, though Daryl may get pissed off and just leave. Disagreements do not mean the CR is absolutely toast, tho! Same with fighting. Daryl is used to conflict and antagonistic friendships.
Injury: Ask first, but sure.
Death: Ask first, but sure.
Mimicry: Ask first, but sure.
IC Offensive Topics: Canned wet dog food. "Easy Street". Baseball bats. Unstable bridges. Burnt-out forests. Dead children.
Other/Warnings: Daryl has endured violent domestic abuse, and grew up in a highly racist, sexist environment.
In later seasons, Daryl has also experienced torture, up to and including sleep deprivation, starvation, music torture, humiliation, depersonalization, and things along those lines.
If you want to opt out of all or any of those things, or just this character in general, say so here.
