i'm saying motorhead is his favorite band. also probably merle's.
in general, 'classic' 70s-80s metal seems like a safe place to go. iron maiden, metallica and black sabbath are safe bets. head-bangy shit without too much screaming. misfits sneak in with some of their singles. ac/dc is definitely up there as well.
probably does not like modern country or johnny cash. outlaw country is probably fine. waylon jennings & david allen coe are fine.
i imagine he grew up with appalachian folk and has some fondness for it but wouldn't seek it out. doc watson is probably his favorite if he had to pick one, but i dont think he thinks about the genre much. chet atkins & the stanley brothers are allowed.
he doesn't recreationally listen to jefferson airplane but thinks grace slick's voice is very sexy when she really goes for it. this will never come up naturally.
all this with the caveat that he hates to listen to any music with rick or any adult who plays it too loud / enjoys it in a way he finds embarrassing. kinds are fine tho, eat the rich.
You got a piece of me But it's just a little piece of me And I don't need anyone And these days I feel like I'm fading away
O! GRACE* by MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC CO.
But out here, even the prairie doubts the horizon All I have to do is prove that I'm not pure Oh, the right words come, but I ain't talking The devil's mean but he's honest just as sure Oh, he is honest just as sure
HANGMAN'S SON by CHAD VANGAALEN
He said, everyday's a curse and the curse just gets worse And now you're on the run And you can smell his dirty work cause you're wearing his shirt You left in the night, on your ten speed bicycle Well, you went to grave beginnings Yeah everyone was cheering for you But now I stand on your grave, with nothing to say to you But I wonder how you lay, buried deep in the ground
SHAMPOO* by ELVIS PERKINS
Yellow is the color of my true love's crossbow Yellow is the color of the sun And black is the color of A strangled rainbow That's the color of my lung Black is the color of my true love's arrow That's the color of a human's blood
HIT THE GROUND RUNNING by SMOG
I was raised in a pit of snakes Blink your eyes I was raised on cakes I couldn't memorize a century of slang Or learn to tell the same story again and again and again
I BURN TODAY by BLACK FRANCIS
Yesterday I will burn For the times I did not learn I ran so fast into the north No snow on me And so he said thenceforth I let snow fall On frozen yesterday I burn today
thanks tumblr.
